New York City!! Day 4

Sunday morning Megan and I headed to "Alices Tea Cup" an adorable place for brunch.  We both ordered tea and it was so cute.  We then walked around Central Park again but then we both got a bit tired so we headed back to the hotel for a rest.

When Brittany got back we went down to the World Trade Center memorial.  It was good and interesting and a solemn end to our trip together. We argued about dinner but then we decided on a Japanese place.  The meal was great and we all enjoyed our food.  When we got back to the hotel we all just packed and relaxed and talked about the trip.  All in all it was a great trip to New York City with a great group of girls!

New York City!! Day 3

On Saturday Megan and I ate breakfast at the diner in the hotel and it was horribly overpriced and not very good.  But it was food.  Then we headed to the Natural History Museum.  We walked around the gem part for almost 2 hours.  The rest of the museum was not very enjoyable.  Way too crowded and loud and uncomfortable.  I was miserable and didn't care about the rest of the museum so we left.  We decided to walk around Central Park.

As we were walking around Central Park we walked past this woman who had bright red lipstick on and flawless make up which is why I noticed her.  As I glanced at her she looked away like she didn't want to be noticed.  Then I saw her kid had blue hair.  I turned to Megan and said, "I swear that woman looked just like Gwen Stefani".  Megan said, "no doubt about it".  So I googled if her kid had blue hair and he did.  So Megan and I were very excited to have seen a celebrity even though we didn't know it at first.

Gwen Stefani!

In the afternoon after Brittany got done we decided we would go get pizza somewhere but couldn't decide where because Megan didn't want pizza.  But we finally decided on a little place where Brittany and I ate delicious New York pizza.  After dinner we all went our separate ways with me heading to the Nederlander Theater to see "NEWSIES!"  This was the whole reason I wanted to go to New York City.  I love the movie Newsies so when I heard there was a musical coming out I really wanted to see it!  So I was very excited.  The show started and the crowd was great.  Everyone who was there wanted to be there and wanted the show to be amazing.  When Jack Kelly came on stage the entire theater hollered for him.  When the Newsies sang "Carrying the Banner" I clapped and yelled along with everyone else.  It was amazing.  By intermission I was hooked on this musical.  They did an amazing job of adapting it for the stage.  By the time Jack came out of Pulitzers office and told the Newsies, "We Won" the whole audience stood up and clapped for them.  It was amazing.  If at the end of the 1st act I was hooked by the end of the 2nd act I was obsessed!  The entire audience was.  It was undeniably the highlight of my New York City trip.  I loved it!!

New York City!! Day 2

Day 2 began early with Brittany heading to her Dance Teacher Conference and Megan and I getting Tim Hortons for breakfast.  We headed out to the Gossip Girl tour.  We barely got there on time and got the last seats.  It was a great tour and I feel though we really got to see the hot spots of New York.  One of the spots of tour included "Dylans Candy Shop" and both of us spent about $25 on candy but it was worth it.  The next stop was "Bendels" department store.  That store was really fun and they are the only store to have the official perfume that Kate Middleton wore when she married Prince William.  It was a gorgeous, light scented perfume that I would love to have without the $250 price tag.  So I'm very glad Megan and I did the Gossip Girl tour.

Enjoying Tim Hortons!!

After the tour, I needed a break to relax and so did Brittany.  So we chatted about our days and then we all got dressed up for the "Russian Tea Room".  It was very fancy and very fun.  Because it was Restaurant Week we were able to afford the appetizer, entree and dessert for $35 per person.  Very affordable for us.  I ordered the borscht soup and the girls ordered the salads.  I loved the borscht soup.  It was amazing!!  As for the main entree I ordered the beef filet, Megan had the salmon and Brittany had the chicken Czar.  Everything was amazing!  For dessert Brittany and I had cheesecake and Megan ordered the chocolate cake.  So the Russian Tea Room was a great success and I'm so very grateful that we were able to have a reservation there.

New York City!!! Day 1

I've been so busy with doing stuff in the Summertime that I haven't had time to update.  Lets go back to July 26 when we all went to New York City.  I got up at 4 am to drive to Pittsburgh to make my flight around 9 am.  Brittany was flying from North Carolina and had already arrived in D.C for her 2nd flight by 9 am.  Megan had started the journey the night before and was in Philadelphia at 9 am.  But then it all started to fall apart.  Brittanys flight was delayed 30 minutes, then my flight became delayed and so did Megans.  About 45 minutes after our flights were to leave Megan and Brittanys flights were cancelled!!  I was just waiting for mine to get cancelled.  Thankfully, it did not.  I was told I would be leaving around 11:30 am.  Brittany and Megan could not get another flight and so they decided to take the train into NYC.  I boarded my plane and arrived in the Big Apple at 12:30 and got to Hotel Pennsylvania by 1:10.  Megan was already there and Brittany was on her way!

Finally there!!  I broke out in a rash on my forehead from all the craziness

New York Coffee and waiting for Brittany

Brittany arrived at 4pm and we were finally all in NYC!!!  It was a crazy adventure getting there but we did!  We all changed and went down to China Town because it was Brittanys birthday and she wanted to go to China Town for dinner.  We walked around looking at a restaurant to eat at but most were Rated B so we waited until we found a Grade A Rating.  It was a place called "Big Wang Wongs"  It was hilarious!!!  Brittany and I ordered the shrimp Chow Mein which was excellent and Megan ordered Chicken Fried Rice.  It was a good place to eat dinner.

Afterwards we walked around and went to "Georges Cupcakes" where Megan and I got the Red Velvet cupcake and Brittany got a birthday cupcake which was perfect because she was the birthday girl.  On the way back to the hotel it started to rain.  And not just rain but pour.  Awful, miserable, windy rain where the umbrella does nothing but fly away.  It was terrible.  We were all soaking and miserable.  But we were in New York so although day 1 was not anywhere near as fabulous as we imagined we were still pretty happy.

Welcome to China Town!!
