I have many mom friends from storytime that swore by using amber necklaces. I was very skeptical but I decided to do some research and the information was overwhelming. Baltic amber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, a scientifically examined medical substance used in contemporary medicine. The highest content of the acid is found in the amber cortex--the external layer of the stone. Amber works by being worn on the skin warming the amber which releases healing oils and the oils are then absorbed into the blood stream. The active ingredient is succinic-acid which was analysed by the pioneer of modern bacteriology, the Nobel-prize winner Robert Koch (1886), who confirmed its positive influence and recent scientific research has also proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism.
The necklace Kaellyn has is individually strung so if she breaks it tiny beads don't spill out. Even so the beads are tiny enough not to choke on. And I'm constantly watching her so I don't worry about her getting caught up in it. I never put her to sleep wearing it. She just wears it during the day when I'm watching her. And I notice a HUGE difference when she isn't wearing it. She's crabby, clingly, whiny, tired, and all around draining. Within a half an hour of me putting it on her, she is happy, independent, and loving. I can not praise her amber necklace enough. Especially, because I didn't even notice her teething and now she's got a tooth!!!
